I don't think the purpose of the China-Japan agreement on the yuan settlement reciprocity is to destroy the US dollar.
Japan is a very strong ally of the United States and I predict the Bank of Japan will support the US dollar for many years.
China has bought over 1 trillion dollar of USA government bonds. So, if China wanted to destroy the US Dollar, it would be counter-intuitive and an contradiction to the Chinese economic leaders' goals.
