Looks to me she clearly can take care of herself. Epicure's original post rambled on about gun ownership AND that is what I took issue with; I hope the women gets some help- she clearly needs it. I know the gun nuts love stories like that-- and I haven't the heart to post the hundreds of gun suicide stories I read, that really put in perspective how great it is to have weapons easily accessible. For every "atta girl" invasion, you've got a lot of "oops, my 5 year old just shot his brother in the chest and killed him" stories, and those terrible "my despondent 14 year old shot himself in the head." Epicure clearly is mixing issues here; gun safety and self protection. I ask again Sam, what help is it that you think this woman needs?

Sam, here is a more detailed story about the event along with a picture of the woman's husband. I'm still confused as to what you and Epicure think she needs "help" with, but is sure sounds as if she was one level headed woman. She barricaded the door with the couch and called 911 and remained calmly on the phone with two different dispatchers for over 20 minutes. When the intruder - who had already taken drugs according to his accomplice - finally broke the door down with a knife in his hands is when the young mother protecting her child shot the intruder. dailymail.co.uk
