If plantation owner Johnson found that if he beat a slave twice a week, his behavior would improve, and he had 300 slaves, how many beatings in a year would he have to have his overseers administer to get the best behavior?

The teacher was a boob.

Go ahead and connect the slavery to the math. No problem. But why not choose a problem about how many chickens and ears of corn it might take to feed x number of slaves? Why go with the beatings thing?

I'm not about to let the teacher off the hook for that. Just plain dumb.
