I guess it is ok to invent new meanings. The problem is that you will confuse communication when you discuss issues with people unfamiliar with the meanings you have invented. Most people (for instance) consider communism to be both very dogmatic and very left.

And I really do not see how existentialism is either left or right. Rather, an existentialist is more of a free thinker. The left and the right define themselves as dogmatic by existing on opposite (and extremely defined) poles of thought.
