As far as I know, the average costs of keeping a person on dead row and finally having him killed by the state is no higher than locking him up for life. That choice given, IMHO keeping him behind the bars for ever would be the better choice for so many reasons - unless the eye for eye and tooth for tooth position still remains an important stance of our society.
