Howard, the devaluation threat is real. But the question is if the lame-duck Govt wants to threaten the domestic economy at the expense of the exporters. As such, there is talk about recession. I don't think that there is much of a bad-loan crisis in India. In early 1990 a stock-market related bad-loan scam has taken a lot of investors and shot. Several banks also took the hit. A few months before and after the last elections there was a shakeout in the stock market (remember my not on MB thread about this time last year?), which recovered from the blues. Thanks to export led economy which improved the quality of living. However, as I was told, that there is glut in India for just about any goods you want to buy.
All told, I think India will be the last to fall and also it may be the first to recover in the region. IFN at 52 week low? I would go for it! At least a 3rd!
