Paul,

Interesting angle on COMS price and volume action today. You are right about the short term risk...I didn't trade COMS today but I am looking for an entry point for a longer term position in my HR-10 account. Unlike April, where the meltdown was a result of the perceived threat from Intel in NIC cards, this time it is the double whammy of merger pains coupled with technology and product transition issues. I see COMS trading margins for market share right now...for example, MOT has already exitited the modem business because they could not compete profitably with COMS, DEC is selling of their networking unit as well...I imagine COMS competition in modems are really feeling the pain right about now. COMS has excellent management and Benhamou, with his vision for the company, will certainly resolve these issues to the long term benefit of COMS' shareholders (I really like the fact that they are calling that conv. deb. - a win/win for current shareholders)...COMS has leading edge technology and such a strong brand name franchise that sometime in the next 12 months it will trade at 45 again...in the meantime, COMS' high beta guarantees there is a good income to be had writing short term (less than 1 month to expiration) out of the money covered calls on a long position...with a little discipline and trading, COMS is a sure 1.5 bagger at sometime over the next year.
