Re: Inside Intel

I just finished the book this morning. I asked for your opinion because a chapter was devoted to your exploits. I have a friend who was featured in "Accidental Empires" and he said the author got everything wrong. Since "Inside Intel" is very unflattering, I thought you might be the same. If I were you, I wouldn't want my son to read the Penang Burning chapter!

I also found the book to be a good read, but not a history of an explanation of the evolution of the business. I found the explanation of the Intel-AMD legal suit to be more even-handed than the extreme positions taken by you and the fanatics on the AMD thread.

Like the Slate reviewer, I'm amazed that this is the first book to appear on Intel, even though it's a much older and influential company than Apple and Microsoft. The stories are interesting, but I'm hoping that someone out there is compiling a history. It would be nice if someone would pick the brain of Gordon Moore before he dies.

If Intel really is anything like the portrayal in Inside Intel, I can readily see how they could easily have stolen Alpha secrets from DEC. Nevertheless, the win-win settlement clearly shows a maturation of their negotiating abilities and business ethics.
