Mauro,

I like the following statements too:

"Although it is difficult to determine the fair market value of these equity positions today because they are illiquid, our analysis shows the value of the equity ownership in USC and USI for Alliance is worth between $10.00 and $21.00 -- at worst, a value greater than what the stock is trading at today."

"In either case, the fabless company is protected from rising wafer prices for the duration of the contract -- typically six months to a few years."

So Alliance gets $10.00 to $21.00 in equity. How much does Sandisk get for investing 10% in UMC?

I think the CEO is shrewd too. Look at all the OEMs Sandisk "went in bed with" but the company is still able to protect its intellectual property. I think Sandisk gets more from those OEMs than the other way around.

Mike.
