I have owned and continue to buy TCH a closed end Chinese/Hong Kong fund managed by Mobius. The discount has been ranging from 15 to 19% in the last month. I am in it for the looooong term to use it for college education funding for my baby son who is about to be born any day now. Take a look at it and do your own DD.

If I remember correctly Asia Tigers had a very high expense ratio.

Doug, I am interested in your opinion on the skills and reputation of Mobius.

I have just bookmarked this subject and looking forward to learn more about Hong Kong.

George

Richard:

I mean no offense, but it would be imprudent of me to suggest what might be a good investment for you or anyone, other than myself.

I do own a couple of closed end funds. GRR is not one of them.
I'm not particularly impressed with the record of the management,
nor do I like their country diversification.

I would not normally use a name of a firm, but since it is fact, I
will use it. A relative recently sent me the most recent report on the Merrill Lynch Dragon Fund, and asked me what I thought. The fund
had investments broken down by country. It showed cost & market value
in each country. I told them EXACTLY what the report said..."The
fund has made money in China & Hong Kong. They are getting their butt
kicked in almost every other country they have attempted to make
profitable investments." I would be very surprised if GRR is not similar.

If you wish to shop for a closed end fund, start here:

trustnet.co.uk

(I'll bet I have more links than you have questions. <bg>)

Personally, I have been buying what I can prudently afford to.
Some funds are selling at so much below their NAV, I cannot believe
I can buy them at these prices without the use of a gun. <g>

Just my opinion. Please check into any potential investment before
you decide to invest.

Best Regards,

Doug
