To all, here is an unsolicited recommendation, which I rarely give. Take a good hard look at shorting Motorola or buying puts. I have a short conversation with their investors relations manager. And all my earlier thoughts are affirmed. I think the stock is headed back to low to mid 50's by January. But you may want to buy more time than that! Just a few points:
1) Troubled Asian countries account for about 28% of their business. And that's a lot.
2) In the 3rd Q they haven't seen much of an impact from the SE Asian currency crisis. So far, they haven't changed the guidance to the analysts.
3) They are concerned about the Asian turmoil and it could affect (he didn't say it is affecting) subscriber growth. Which COULD cause the service providers to cut-back on orders for cell-phones and pagers.
4) Cellular infrastructure development business in that region could get affected as well.
Long live "head-in-the-sand" bulls. The puts are cheap and shorting is less risky!
I rest my case.
Happy trading!
