I'm from Texas, have relatives all over it, and know it well. Austin is the only city in Texas worth visiting. There aren't really any spectacular places in Texas, other than Big Bend, and it's so remote you have to really WANT to go there. The attractions in Texas are generally small ball, very human-scale.


It has no Monument Valley, no Yosemite, no Crater Lake, no Rocky Mountains, no Grand Canyon, etc.
