Good series of posts, Stock Bull.

RE: BTO/CTO - Build-to-order/Configure-to-order

I recently read that Compaq's BTO/CTO model is in the process of reducing total PC inventory in the warehouses and in the channels from 70 days to 14 days. Intel recently estimated that the move to BTO/CTO by Compaq and the other PC makers is going to cost it something like $500 million in lost sales this year. The same thing can be said for the disk drive makers, although, it is difficult to determine the impact on revenues for each disk drive maker since the PC makers tend to qualify all the top tier drive vendors for different, if not the same programs.
