Sequent Computer To Provide Data Center Server To UK Co.

Dow Jones Newswires -- November 23, 1997

BEAVERTON, Ore. (Dow Jones)--Sequent Computer Systems Inc. (SQNT) will
provide its NUMA-Q 2000 data center server, to Norwich Union, a United Kingdom insurance company, for 1 million pounds.

In a press release Friday, Sequent said the technology, utilizes an Intel-based NUMA or Non-Uniform Memory Access architecture to host applications which help companies understand and respond to customer needs.

Sequent said NUMA-Q 2000's main application MIDAS, a marketing campaign management system, will deliver customer analysis to Norwich's consumer call center service.

Phase one of MIDAS is almost complete with phase two due to go live in February 1998. Phase three will involve the creation of a call center by mid-1998.

Sequent said the server's General Insurance Management Information System application will be used for analyzing intermediary broker data.
