We like to listen to the reruns of CSI and related...but you're right....the sound is SO loud, and the voices are hard to hear....Don't know if we can change it or not....

My Logitech setup is fairly old - at least 5-6 years. It has a powered subwoofer and two smaller speakers. There is a separate volume control and a control for the bass. The only connection is the mini plug that plugs into the headset plug on the tv.

It's similar to this setup:

Have you checked your TV's menu for sound selection? My LG has settings for normal viewing, talk, music, sports, etc.
