Bottom line is we need the oil from a friendly (neighboring) country rather than where it's coming from.

The problem BUTW, is that much of this oil is already earmarked for export. You've mentioned this before and I'll have to dig up documentation that Valero, for example, who is the largest lease holder regards this pipeline, has told shareholders that export to exUSA markets is its plan. The Canadian gvt is documented saying they want to expand beyond the US.

Whatever portion does make it into the US markets, it won't be available until the 2020- 2030 range because of a surplus in other networks. So it can't be a bridge while we scale up cleaner energy sources.

Oh, please stop using "greens" so pejoratively!

Perhaps your generation saw the extremes of "greens" but even if they were? they were doing it in the name of keeping our planet cleaner. And frankly, there is a moral responsibility we have? And pragmatic. We want clean water to drink and clean air to breathe. Pretty basic, no?

Trust me on this one...You'll thank me and Scott later<g>.....

We already GET Canada's oil. What the pipeline will do is let Canada ship and sell their oil to OTHER world markets. Gain for US? ZIP, once the two years of construction jobs are gone.
