Bob, I think the thing we have all learned on SI over the last decade is how differently conservatives and liberals see the world. I remember in the beginning both groups would post together, but it just got too contentious. So now we have segregated ourselves and have liberal and conservative threads. Just like congress. These last two years showed just how much contempt liberals and conservatives have for each other's ideas. And the two parties are now two completely separate populations with no overlap on the tail end at all. I am not sure how we will govern our country going forward. It is pretty much impossible for us to communicate with each other. I noticed this difference almost 50 years ago and have pondered it for all that time. It is what made me decide to major in psychology, but I learned nothing about this particular manifestation of the human species. As you said: "we live in parallel universes. Not sure what we can do about it?
