It's not too late to change the thrust of history. Things are never so bad that they can't get worse. <
Ron Paul could have changed the thrust of history, but it's too late now.

Obama losing to Paul would put a stop to a lot of rot.

<Put aside your own view of libertarianism or of Paul himself. I see libertarianism as an important critique of the Leviathan state, not a governing philosophy. As for Paul himself, I find him a principled, somewhat wacky, highly engaging eccentric.>

What's wrong with Libertarianism as a governing philosophy? Maybe the writer dislikes capitalism, or freedom, or border protection, or something. He didn't write what he dislikes.

Wacky? I have to agree with that. That crazy old guy thinks that solid currency with gold backing is a good idea and that the Federal Reserve is not acting in the interests of citizens of the USA. There really are loons out there who think like him on that. You might have come across some yourself C2. But even with such wacky ideas as a gold standard, and no doubt other faulty ideas, politics is a matter of choosing the best overall positions. I'd take a gold standard if I had to. It's not as bad as vast dilution of US$ by an out of control spendthrift wastrel Congress.
