There seems to be no place to hide from all of this fraud.

Yes. No place to hide and the shameless scammers can just shop for the best place to commit their fraud. Ain't interdependent globalization wunnerful? What fantastic opportunities it opens up!

The problem isn't really to regulate or not to regulate, big gov'ment or small guv'ment, as the politicos (and plenty of talking heads on the Tube, print and radio pundits and even right here on SI). The problem is how to get wise regulation. Where there is a lot of money to be made, scammers will show up to try to "make" it--especially if they can socialize their losses! Big banks are where the money is, and they need serious oversight for that reason alone. One reason why we need to bring back some version of Glass-Steagall.
