I send my prayers and deepest sympathy to you and your family for your recent loss. I read somewhere on the Internet a good remedy for a sore throat is to take pure honey. One tablespoon, hold in your mouth and swish it around and then swallow it. I tried it when my throat was hurting me to swallow and within an hour it was no longer sore. Kill all the germs in mouth and throat. I did not have to repeat it and it took care of mine fairly quickly. I have not googled it, but might try to see what other advantages it may have. I had not heard of doing that before from any source but it surely worked for me. My Mom's cure for colds and sore throats was a hot toddy of whiskey, lemon, water and honey. Haven't had one of those in many, many years but maybe the honey in that helped neutralize bacteria and kill germs also. I will google it when I get back in from dinner. I have had bronchitis for several weeks now and have not been able to clear it up. Had three five day Z-paks, then a stronger antibiotic taking two a day, morning and evening. Taking my last pill tonight. Has worn me out even though I have stayed in bed resting and getting more than enough sleep. Many here have been experiencing the same thing. Both our daughters have it and still taking prescription drugs also and experiencing the same symptoms I have dealt with. Going to make appointments for each us with a pulmonary doctor if things don't change. I am finishing up taking CEFPROZIL, 250mg. I have also heard that Mucinex controls coughs, relieves chest congestion, breaks up Mucus and is alcohol-free. I have not tried that yet but think we three will before having to go consult a doctor. I have had no fever, chills or a sore throat during this down time. I think our weather is also contributing to most of this. Cold, freezing one day and the next very warm temperatures. Today not even a light jacket was needed to go outside. A long sleeved turtleneck and jeans were the dress today Time to leave, but will try to check back later.
