Those firms are so big that the pipeline represents just a small percentage of their wealth that their building it will not influence their stock price that much with the possible exception of Conoco.

Furthermore, I'm fairly certain , Boehner, like other elected representatives has his investments in a "blind trust" (which means he doesn't get to make the investment decisions or buy and sell the stock) and this is done to avoid the inevitable conflict of interest charges that would be leveled at all congressman. (the President does this too).

Additionally, 10-50k is not "millions" although 350K (if 50K were in each the 7 firms) would represent a nice piece of change for most of us.

All the congress persons of both parties pretty much take donations for their re-election from lobbying arms of corporations. Its only illegal if they trade a vote for cash.
