As many folks have noted, ECRI's call this time around left no room for ambiguity. Either they are overly confident in their predictive powers after a long string of successful calls and they are about to be embarrassed, or the indicators they are looking at are so incredibly bad that it leaves no doubt in their mind that a recession is imminent. After watching them for 11 years, I believe the latter is the case. But we'll know for sure in the next 5-6 mos at the latest.
