The trouble is that the way Juan Williams asked the question -- basically, aren't you sneering at blacks for being shiftless, preferring foodstamps to work, and being fit only to be janitors? -- really reflects what liberals, especially blacks, hear when Newt Gingrich talks. The MSM has gotten really good about quoting conservative candidates via sound bites which do not convey the true intent of the speaker but serve to portray that person in an extremely negative light. Since so many folks form their opinions from watching the MSM (or less) they never hear or comprehend the real message. I actually think Juan's question was reflective of a perception of Newt and gave him the opportunity to dispute it directly. I usually bristle at the questions that start (as per the lady from the WSJ ), "If you are elected President what do you intend to do about ....". In this case it was about housing. Why, oh why do some folks feel that the answer to every problem is another government program? Every time the government gets involved, it usually exacerbates the problem. FDR prolonged the depression but liberals love him because he "did something".
