I agree, Bill. Along the same line, I also think that if people don't witness it happening in their front yards or inside their homes, it also doesn't register.

Most people have very short attention spans, limited fields of vision, and a very shallow and dull awareness of the world around them. "It's not directly affecting me at this very moment, so it must not be a problem. No need for change."
