I didn't say illegal (although it was legally dubious), I said it "was not a for profit effort to make companies more efficient. It was a political effort to reduce the amount of restructuring and the scope for potential lower costs and higher efficiencies, in order to benefit the UAW." Something can be legal, and still be an unfortunate, negative, and inappropriate example of government tilting the scale in favor of its cronies.
