Joe, I missed the debate last night. I am volunteering my time assisting in getting and economic development package past in JC.

That question was ask in last nights debate by Gerald Seib. There are 7 military bases in SC. There is a difference between military spending and defense spending. Military spending includes such things as nation building. Another example is the embassy we built in Iraq that is larger than the Vatican. By bringing troops back from overseas we can cut costs but not weaken our defense. As one of the candidates explained we can cut costs and wind up with more military personnel stationed on US soil.

One of my relation is a recruiter for the Air Force. The whole approach of recruiting has changed since the draw down has begun. I personally, can not believe that we are continually protecting the other countries while they are down sizing their own military when we have deficit problems. But, I understand the rationale, not agree with it, that the legislators are willing to be bought off by the various military corporations with the corporations spreading the military money around the US.
