The only reason we had WWII was because 5 empires died at once, three countries decided to fight for supremacy.

Empires that died in the first decade 20th Century:
Qing dinasty, British, Habsburgs, Ottoman and Romanoff empires

Three countries that vied for position:
Japan, Germany, USA

No BRIC is jockeying for position. They just want to trade. Trading nations are not warlike.

There is no "reserve currency" required. People are free to buy and sell in any currency they like. That is, unless their country has taken them prisoner and won't let them.
