No, Ron Paul is not the smartest candidate or he would not bad mouth the USA so much. The majority of American voters don't want to hear, from someone who claims to want to be their leader, that the country never does anything right. Did Geo Washington or Ronald Reagan tell their fellow citizens that America goes to war without sufficient reason - no they did not. If you want to lead people, you tell them why they should be proud of their heritage, and when it comes to the history of the USA that's the easiest attitude possible.
