Protecting the privacy and other rights of citizens who look like they may be illegal. Pick em up, lock em up, and make em prove their innocence of the GOVERNMENT'S suspicion... For all you dudes who go apoplectic over BIG Government, or the slightest slippage of the second amendment interpreted broadly, perhaps you should read the other amendments sometime. And understand the meaning of presumed innocence as well as thinking about what the price might be of an "open society.". You post politically extreme material that IMO makes Republicans look rigid and anti-American Way on this website, and I want the government to detain you because you might be a muslim socialist shill against good moderate conservatives. Prove you are not working for the Iranians. Someone should be starting a file on you!! How would that feel??? How would it feel to be picked up and detained because you "look" and sound a certain way??

The illegal immigrant problem has been upon us since the Reagan years. Bush Jr. indicated in no uncertain terms that he was not interested in actively pursuing the illegals and sending them out of the country. And why should he? Doesn't he have some Mexican Americans in his clan? So my question is why is this anti-foreigner taken front stage now? What is the hidden motive. The President is a foreigner. The illegals are to be deported to the foreign lands. So you see the trend here. And it it only for the reason that we do not have a White President? I mean what race does Jan Brewer belong to? Why is the talk against Mexican illegals only when we have a significant number of European illegals in the Northeast, Canadian illegals in the North etc. Is it because the Mexican have a skin color that is not white? And these white skinned illegals h ave been here since the 1970s. But nobody talked about seeking protection from these illegals? And steve, are you saying there are no Jewish illegals here. I know at least 4 of them personally here in the Sf Bay area, Russian Jewish illegals. Very hard working and honest folks. And so are the Mexicans here in the California barrios. The barrios pop up because Americans do not want to do the jobs. They make more from unemployment. So let us look at the problem rationally instead of the politically colored glasses that many of the right wing posters here on SI do.
