Okay, let's get empirical. How has the peace-keeping been going with the USA as Team Leader for the last century? Not so good. It has not been peaceful. How about just the last quarter of a century since the end of the world's other superpower?

No, the peace has not been kept then either. Pretty well any place that chose to, got into wars and insurrection.

So the Peace Keeping programme has been very limited at best.

How about keeping elephants out of everyone's garden? Yes, they have been highly successful at that. I have never seen an elephant in anyone's garden. But proving it was the USA military that achieved that is difficult.

China has not invaded anywhere other than Hong Kong, Tibet and threatens to reclaim Taiwan. Hong Kong was pretty much the end of a lease from Great Britain and The Crown so that doesn't really count. Tibet was at the tail end of World War II as part of Mao Tse Tung's revolution which wasn't stopped either and great turmoil and huge murder took place so the peace was not kept there. Scotland did not invade England so the USA was successful there. Same for keeping Germany from invading France and North Africa - no action on that front either so they were kept at bay. Serbia and the Moslems did have a genocidal conflict so that didn't go too well [as a peace-keeping mission before they started].

Saddam was keeping the peace in Iraq once he had killed his latest victims, though was constantly threatening insurrection in the vicinity. The UN invasion has returned Iraq to peace [if we ignore minor details of carnage]. Afghanistan is hardly peaceful but maybe another decade or two there should do it. Libya was never peaceable, supplying the IRA with weaponry, as did many Americans, so the USA wasn't too good at keeping the peace there.

Australia hasn't invaded New Zealand so I must say the USA has managed to hold them at bay. Also Fiji is not threatening conquest. The Australians probably would say the Kiwis are invading THEM and they are getting sick of it. In fact, they are considering invasion of NZ: youtube.com

Joking aside, any invaders should be very careful. We have an asynchronous defence capability and we have a LOT of mangrove swamps in which to hide.

Seriously though, we have a formal navy for blue water combat. Look how tidy their uniforms are. Mess with us at your peril. Watch out for the big guy holding a wadi.
