Yes, and independents and moderates are a hugh turnoff to the religious right wing. What's the solution?
What you're really describing is the problem of multiculturalism, which has been declared as a failure.
Each group consisting of conservatives, leftists, independents, moderates, extremists, Blacks, Whites, Asians, Browns, Christians, Jews, Muslims, straights, homosexuals, seniors, younger adults, tax payers, welfare recipients, employed, unemployed, unions, corporations, military, pacifists, abortionists, pro-lifers, Protestants, Catholics, Mormons, atheists, teachers, parents, Americans, hyphenated-Americans, Native Americans, law-abiders, felons, haves, have-nots, upper-class, middle-class, lower-class, wealthy, poor, and so forth and so on, all want their own way.
A couple of hundred years ago, few of the differences mattered because the overwhelming majority of people rarely ventured more than a few miles from the places of their birth. Local standards and cultures were established and adhered to. Those who did not conform were either killed or cast out. There was not a "toleration" factor.
Today, barely a couple of hundred years later, we are forced to pay taxes to support things that are radically different from our own way of thinking. Conservative Whites are told that not accepting this things means we are evil racists!
Never has such massive change happened in such a short period of time in human history. We simply are not designed to adapt this quickly.
So, here we are. Again I ask, what's the solution? Historically, such differences have been resolved with mass bloodshed. Why will this time be different? |
