they have been running 'vanity' campaigns

That is what I thought from the beginning about Cain and Gingrich. They both had books and themselves to promote. Gingrich never had a "real" organization. He hired a few politicos but they all quit en masse when they realized he wasn't really serious. He took a vacation right in the middle of the campaign. He likes to speak, give lectures, make documentaries, write books and do reviews on Amazon - have you seen how many he's done? When he started to get some positive feedback, he decided to put a little more effort into it to raise some more money - after all, he still gets to keep whatever he raises. I actually like what Gingrich has to say. Very smart and articulate. But he has no self-control. He flies off the handle at the slightest provocation. Maybe we need someone more measured in the White House.

Cain also had a book to promote and liked the attention he was getting.

Santorum is a has been - has been for some time. How did he expect to carry even one state when his own state rejected him - big time?

Ron Paul reminds me of Ralph Nader - always running, and a spoiler at best.
