Don't social issues affect everyone?

not in the sense that there are winners and losers on social issues within the same country. with the economy, everyone in the country either wins or loses.

Aren't social issues and economic issues literally intertwined, directly and indirectly?

only when a social issue has government intervene in the economy, like affirmative action. other social issues like gay rights or abortion have no effect on the economy.
