Easy-going and approachable enough to draw a gaggle of female fans, yet with an alluring mystique that could entice big names like Davy Jones, Desi Arnaz, Jr, or Doug Simpson, the big man on campus. But, in keeping with the analogy, the BlackBerry ( RIMM ) -- lost, unsure of itself, always left behind -- would have to be Jan. Sure, BlackBerry attempts various methods of gaining attention like a capacitive screen or a brunette wig, but it's readily dismissed in favor of the iPhone's sleek, compatible design. Only when the iPhone took a football to its antenna did the BlackBerry look better in comparison. Reflecting the Brady metaphor, a new study conducted by Gazelle at this year's CES found that iPhone users are much more optimistic than their BlackBerry brethren. According to the results, owners of the iOS device have a more positive outlook compared to the relatively dour disposition of the RIM flock. Gazelle's study found that 52% of iPhone users and 58% of iPad users have an optimistic worldview, while a startling 0% of BlackBerry users are confident about the future. (Though that could be a testament to their perception .) By comparison, Android ( GOOG ) users were found to be generally optimistic and active -- a smartphone's Alice Nelson, if you will. With 31% of Android smartphone users and 55% of Android tablet users expecting more good things to happen than bad, they may not be as upbeat as iPhone users, but they'll whip up a tasty meatloaf, enjoy a backyard trampoline, and accommodate the Motorolas ( MMI ), HTCs, and Samsungs at a ghost town or the Grand Canyon.
