The thing is that these childlike desires are based on the most absurd hubris! Really, just a reference point we know as the ego which everyone thinks is so damn important! I have been dead almost the entire time of all existence. I have lived for perhaps a second, eh! But to the extent that I am that which always was...I always was and always will be. And I think that is what Spinoza knew! Those who grovel from pew to pew and from sect to sect trying to convince themselves that some creature somewhere just cannot live without them--without bringing them back to life (WOW) to torture or to supply them with sex or water or something...these creatures are really pathetic! There is no excuse for it except egoistic dishonesty. Believing in fairytales so they can "survive". Yuck. I find the stupidity and the conceit and the selfishness absolutely mind boggling. And we have seen what it does for "character"! LOL!
