Obama and dems did not want to extend the bush tax cuts. Republicans said if they didn't, they would not extend unemployment benefits right before christmas and during a depression. Obama did not want that to happen, so he caved into them. We liberals are really pissed at him for caving into the Republicans. What I find most interesting among republcians is that they cannot see how mean and nasty they are. The engage in both racisim, gay bashing and union busting constantly. But more importantly, is how they just seem insensitive. they fight hard to prevent gay couples from marrying. That is really stupid and just plain mean. For 50 years I have watched the meaness of the republvcians staring with Joe Macarthy and his unamerican activities committe that accused inocent people of beingn communists. the paranoid John birch society. Teh evil Nixon. How the conservatives fought to prevent integration. Adn then today how they figth to prevent the formation of unions and gay marriage. I think every day when I see the Republicans mean and insensitive actions: "but for the grace of god there go I".
