Rhetorical, I know you know this stuff: What reallly drives me nuts is the right wing always talking about government as though it is something different from us. They need to read some history. For thousands of years mankind was pretty much rulers and ruled. Very unfair and usually horrible, like feudal lords, kings, and peasants and serfs, tribal chiefs with absolute power, slave owners, indentured servitude, or Indias caste system. So after thousands of years we finally develop fully functioning republics, where the people can rule themselves democratically, and the right wing hates it because they completely misunderstand what government is; and they have no idea what we came out of and that there is no place else to go except democracy. Makes me want to set my hair on fire. We are the government. Any problems with it and we only have ourselves to blame.
