Icahn was shuffling assets between the subs and the holding company, screwing the bondholders. You could even state that the bankruptcy was caused by his machinations.People have gone to jail for similar things. I think he influences the bankruptcy committee buy purchasing worthless stock to obtain votes. This is not illegal but it's morally objectionable. I don't recall details but i found his earlier machinations very questionable too. My opinion is that he achieves his objectives on the back of others.
