Unions put people out of work, kill industries and are parasites on the people who they are supposed to be helping.

That is exactly what the corporations want you to believe so they can pay you less. Last I looked the corporations and very rich were making record profits while many workers were near the poverty line.

The Republican's sold that story to the folks in the south in the 60's ( and they bought it), and the first thing they did was bust the unions and now the south is the poorest part of the country with the greatest income inequality.

Alaska on the other hand, has among the strongest unions and not only is it the richest state, but the people make the most money. Every single job on the Alaska pipeline was a union job.

I worked my way through graduate school at the university of Washington working on the Alaska pipeline out of the labors union setting pipe. You know what they did with all those pipe trucks and other good equipement barely used at the end of the job. They blew most of it up and buried it. I was paid to do it. Tax write off. Money meant nothing to them they were making so much. We construction just got a fair wage with unions.

And Exxon had the largest profits any corporation has ever had last year; and Bechtel and floeur are making record profits as well. In Alaska the governor made them hire union folks and pay union wages.

The unions protect the worker. They always protected me.
