If Gingrich becomes the nominee, what I think the msm and democrats will do is show that when it comes to foreign policy, he would start conflicts, especially with Muslims, due to his already-proven combative nature and his on-record statements standing up against Sharia. They could get traction with that because America is war-weary and may be skittish of electing a president who might involve us in another war. They will simultaneously portray the incumbent as a successful FP president who is "nuanced" and has gotten us out of Iraq and successfully trimmed Al Qaeda leadership. So, whoever is the nominee, he will have to convince the electorate that Republicans are not the warmongers the democrats will insist they are.

For his part, the nominee will have to pound away on the economy to offset that issue; and in November, it may very well come down to how many more voters there are who are more desperate over their income and debt than they are over foreign entanglements.

However, if we end up in a war with Iran this year, a Republican will be in the White House next year.
