At first it seemed like only the pelted store closed. Then Apple sold out of 4S in the China stores. Faced with high demand at the Chinese launch date, what should Apple have done? Sell to flippers who would make quick premiums, or pass the units to tear-down shops; or confine sales to their resellers? It was similar in June 2007. The launch was at $499 and $599 if I recall correctly, so competitors and tear-down shops paid full price, before moving in September to the subsidized model. To me that Bloomberg.com article was misleading. Apple is selling all it can of the 4S in China, and deciding how to allocate current production.

Moonray defended posting an article that was stale, IMO.

Thanx for coming to my defense Cogito.
I am neither long nor short AAPL stock at the present time.
I post news stories here because my almost 50 years in the market (June this year) have proven to
me that this is what will move a stock in the short term. I was attempting to provide information as to
why AAPL should be down 7.45 points on a day where the Dow Industrials are up almost 100. And,
especially when entering into a week of expected good earnings. My source WAS NOT the one that
Sr K stated. My source was "http://www.siliconvalley.com/", as anyone clicking on the the word "Apple"
starting my story would find out. I am sure we all realize that all news stories are "incomplete" and/or
may be biased in some way or another. However, they do provide an investigation starting point for
those willing to do their homework when buying or selling an investment.
