NetTV unwraps $1000 "convergence box"

yahoo.com

SAN FRANCISCO (Wired) - NetTV says it will show off prototypes of a forthcoming sub-$1,000 PC+TV convergence box at January's Consumer Electronics show.

For less than a grand, the company claims it will package a 27-inch television/SVGA monitor with integrated TV tuner.

The package will include a set-top "black box" that will include a full-featured Windows 95 multimedia computer with DVD player, digital satellite TV tuner, stereo surround sound, and wireless keyboard.

The system will use Cyrix's MediaGX processor, which was designed for the now-booming sub-$1,000 PC market. The system's projected price tag is well below that of current PC/TV convergence products.

FredE,

I was out of action for a couple of days with a three-month old WDC disk crashing on me. Thanks for guarding the fort in my absence. I can see that in my absence, Cube has been drifting towards the teens.
