I think there is more going on between humans and pets at an unconscious level than we think. What haunted me is that I wondered if she knew what I was going to do? And she would have no way to communicate her fear? probably jsut anthropomorphising, but we have certainly overused that term in the past e.g. making zoo animals crazy/pacing andf certainly with primates. Our relatives which we should be treating with dignity! I watched Temple Grandin twice and was emotional both times. How she saw! I have noticed over the years that seeing seems to be a special quality. Of all my friends the one who became richest was the best at seeing. He was normal in the IQ range, but boy what he saw. He was really a funny guy. Stewart, Colbert and Maher see what others do not see, and then tell it to us and we laugh when they point it out. I have always been a very good poker player and play all the time against people who would test better than I on an IQ test. So I always wondered how I beat them so easily? It did seem that when I was tricking them they could not see the tricks, even though they seemed like simple tricks to me.
