But I'll bet you think having religion involved in education is just fine, right Bob?

Let me think about that. As a Catholic I am a huge believer in Catholic education which we paid for. I note with interest that many non Catholic black parents send their kids to our Catholic school because they care that their kids actually learn something and are treated with respect. Now why do you think that happens. Black, non Catholic parents sending their kids to a Catholic school in a suburb that has a fairly decent school system?

Damn Koan - not every black is a GD fool to believe in your leftist crap. They know that education means actually learning something and care about their kids not lefty loony horse shit. Amazing eh?

You pm'd me

<I started the thought here and carried it over to the main thread.

We need free education from pre schoool through PHD. How do the other countries do it and not us?

There is little wastefull spending. That is another right wing myth.

The neo cons have been tearing down the public school system for 40 years.>

I have taken the time to respond to each of your points and if you want to continue this discussion, please take the time to respond to the specifics of this reply and don't bludgeon me with more liberal talking points.

I have no objection to this idea provided the free education is:

1. Based on demonstrated ability. Passing of tests and maintenance of grades

2. not provided for nonsense courses of no economic value

3. Part of a new system that eliminates the waste in the current system.

< There is little wastefull spending. That is another right wing myth.>

I have previously addressed and you have not responded to my specifics which I will repeat.

1. Most states spend about 30% of their budget on education and in addition the Feds spend about 60 billion per year and the schools have gotten worse as education spending continues to rise above inflation.

2. Most school districts are spending about 1/2 of their budget outside the classroom on high paid administrators who contribute little if anything to our children's education.

<The neo cons have been tearing down the public school system for 40 years>

This sounds to me like one of your unsubstantiated statements based on your liberal bias. Can you support this with few facts.

Your question suggests that education taught in schools somehow makes the schools bad. But doesn't this depend. For example, many Catholic Schools are excellent and among the best but a madras is horrible. By the way do you think the graduates of Madras's are wizend by their education?
