Regarding Quinta. "Alternative to tape backup storage" I am unsure that optical drives can match the speed of the current MR head disk drives. I believe in the short time, drives from the Quinta technology would be a better alternative to tape storage until further advances in optical devices. This may be good news since the tape backup storage segment is picking up (see Quantum's last quarter sales). In the long run, Seagate may be the lead toward optical dd. But probably won't be performance competitive to existing technology till past 2000. Happy Investing
