OT You know full well those Democratic votes came from "Dixiecrates in the South Who where Democrats. who switched to the Republican party right after the 1964 civil rights act False. Most of the Democrats who voted against the law did not become Republicans. It is like claiming Lincoln as a Republican Because he was. He would have been a Democrat today! Easy to boldly assert that, but you provide no support for the idea. And that is why blacks vote over 90% Democratic in every election! For a number of reasons. Partially because of real and perceived views about social spending. Partially because the Democrats have had some success falsely portraying the Republicans as racist, to black voters. Why did you leave out the part about region? Because its irrelevant. Southern Democrats were still Democrats. The simple fact is that a larger percentage of Republicans in each house, and in total, voted for the law. Its not the best measurement of racism or lack thereof, there were non-racist reasons (support of federalism, support of freedom of association) to vote against, and non anti-racist reasons to vote for, but to the extent you want to make it the test, Republicans scored higher.
