I saw the 1 billion dollar figure for adapters on page 237 of the November 10th issue of Computer Reseller News. It was a Dataquest number.

"According to a Dataquest, Inc. study, Fibre Channel controller board
revenue will leap to an estimated $1 billion in 1998 from $50 million in
1997."

The 6 billion dollar number for adapters, and 1 billion dollar number for switches alone supposedly came from an investment firm of some sort, but I haven't been able to independently verify it.

In any case, those numbers are a LOT higher than I thought they would be for 1998. I could believe those numbers for 1999 maybe, but if there turns out to be that much Fibre Channel business in 1998, us ANCR longs will have the last laugh.
