>> If you want the truth - not told by the likes of Fox - then the main culprit is that interest rates were kept too low for too long by Greenspan with the full blessing of Bush.

So in the end, you are blaming Bush for something the Independent Federal Reserve did...

Koan is right! Liberals are pure Genius...

Incidentally, what has always led us out of recessions in the past? HOUSING! The reason is simple if you think it through - but that's NOT going to happen this time. Where do you see demand coming from McKie?

Well Lokness, Romney actually had it right the other day when he said (paraphrased) "of course the economy is coming back, that's what happens after a recession". Economies are cyclical. You don't need the government to do stimulus programs to bring them back. They rebound naturally. And if you think about it, you'll understand why. Oh hell, I'll give you an anecdotal example:

The economy has been rough on everyone. Even me. I've got a 15 year old car. It's been a great car. And since I wanted to keep my debt down and squirrel away as much money as I could through the hard times, I put off buying a new car even though mine isn't the most trendy. But guess what...it's time to buy a new car. I need to have a car to function. So, I will be buying a car soon.

Now scale that across the country for all types of products. People have delayed making purchases of cars, computers, refrigerators, furniture. They have delayed doing home repairs and maintenance that could wait. But at some point, we (collectively) cannot postpone these purchases and other expenditures any longer. So the answer is that the demand will come organically. And it will come as a rather nice boom. And it didn't need an ounce of government stimulus money. In fact, the government stimulus programs probably postponed the recovery.

Curious, why do you dismiss Barney Frank because he is gay? Are you homophobic? Do you think that his sexual orientation has anything to do with the power and influence that he wields in D.C.? If not, why would it be embarrassing if it is true that Frank was responsible for the housing bubble? BTW: I don't think he was solely responsible. As I said, the roots of the housing bubble go back before Bush's presidency. Congress during Bush Sr's presidency had a lot to do with it, Clinton, GWB and definitely Frank and Dodd. Pelosi would probably chime in and take some credit too. Maxine Waters was very public about being responsible for getting poor people loans. Of course, she leaves off the part that they are loans that they would never be able to pay off. Outside of the individuals who we can throw darts at, the real villian is progressivism and those who follow it. If you can't see that....well.....

Embarrassing if it was true for sure - BUT it's not. Anyone who thinks this is stuck on their ideology and blind hatred rather than looking for the real reasons.

BTW: you might want to look at this statement of yours and apply it to your views on Bush.
