Great way to sum it up. My only quibble is the Right's position that Obama caused Muberak's downfall. I don't think we could have stopped it.

No, clearly the army wanted him gone. But we could have stepped in and negotiated retirement for Mubarak, and a transitional military government of several years, which would have given liberal parties a chance to get their act together. We might have succeeded in that, and we would have been seen as holding up our end of the bargain for a man who had been a reliable American ally. If we were paying extra aid for that result, it would have made sense. I don't think we could have prevented the eventual takeover of the MB though.
