To my mind the really amazing places are Victoria/Saanich/Southern Gulf Islands. Best climate in Canada and very easy to live in. Properties on the Gulf Islands have fallen heavily and are pretty compelling: realtor.ca We thought about Salt Spring but decided we wanted to be closer in to DT Victoria so chose a property on the Saanich Inlet. Whole area is heaven for a gardener with pretty much year round growing season - just remember to build the deer fences.
